Heltec T114 Replacement Announced!

Solution Report

Finally, with everyone’s active cooperation and joint efforts, we made two new versions of the hardware and did detailed tests, and now this problem has been perfectly solved!

We tried many guy’s suggestions, such as adding capacitors, but these can only solve part of the problem and cannot actually solve the problem. The root cause is the crystal being affected. When the LoRa packet is sent for a long time, it is more likely to cause CRC BAD. Therefore, we mainly made the following upgrades on the coming new Mesh Node T114 board:

  1. The circuit board was changed from 4 layers to 6 layers so that both the RF part and the crystal oscillator part can obtain a more complete ground;
  2. The circuit was changed from lead-free to immersion gold process, which is more friendly to signal transmission;
  3. The position of some components was adjusted;
  4. The RF path was optimized according to the six-layer board structure;
  5. The direction of the 2.4GHz Bluetooth antenna and IPEX LoRa antenna interface was changed to make them farther away.

The previous hardware issue was unexpected, which made a bad experience when using the product. Express my deep apologies for this again. At the same time, I am also very grateful to everyone who actively discusses and supports here. People from different places, and different races are here to discuss issues enthusiastically from a technical perspective. You are so lovely, and the open-source atmosphere is really great. I hope everyone can continue to support us. Heltec is a team you can always trust!

Compensation

If your device has problems with long byte sending, you can get the following compensation:

  1. Customers who purchased the Mesh Node T114 boards from any sales channel are eligible for a 20% discount on all products available on Heltec’s Official Website using the coupon code “Chip ID”. Regarding how to get ChipID of your T114 board, There are two methods:

If everything is OK, you can see on the display

If you have a version without a display, you can see the ChipID print in serial port tools such as Putty, Arduino Serial Monitor, etc.

The ChipID you get is your coupon code.

  1. For customers who have previously made purchases from our Heltec website or Heltec AliExpress, please send an email to [email protected] with your order number to request a replacement for Mesh Node T114 (V2) boards. Replacements will be provided based on the number of units purchased. Prior to shipping the replacement, we will confirm the delivery address and other order details via email.
  2. If you purchased through agents, you can ask the agent to contact us and request a replacement.

Note:
– The deadline for the above compensation is 60 days, will end on December 8th, 2024.
– This coupon remains valid for 60 days (will end on December 8th, 2024), and each user is entitled to a single use only.
– Only be applicable to T114 boards with long chars send issues (GPS modules, cases, and antennas are not available).
